LACEWEB SPIDER |
|||||||
Laceweb Spiders are small to medium sized grey to black spiders. They spin funnel shaped webs near a crack or hole in which they hide. The spinning plate produces lacy, silken threads that make the webs easy to see. The eyes are in 2 rows: 4 back, 4 front. The abdomen is egg shaped. This spiders bite can cause pain and sickness to humans. The female never leaves her retreat and web, rushing out to seize creatures caught in its blue-white silk. A mature male roams, courts a female by plucking her web, and may remain with her after mating. The female guards her white egg sacs and the young float away on silken threads. |
